General Scope and Summary

Q32 Bio is searching for a skilled, collaborative Senior Director of IT to lead Information Technology operations for the Company. The Senior Director of IT will be responsible for determining current and future department strategy and oversee all aspects of IT operations.

This role will be responsible for proactive management of enterprise infrastructure, cybersecurity, governance and controls, and utilization of AI in a secure and effective manner to advance business goals as appropriate. This role will oversee the design and implementation as well as maintenance and support of all information systems that support the company and will also manage external partners and providers of IT services.

This role will report to the Company’s President and the CFO and will work closely with senior leaders and collaborate with all groups across the Company.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of Q32 Bio’s IT multi-year strategic plan and oversee execution and implementation supporting the company’s operational needs.
  • Develop and implement all aspects of cybersecurity plans, policies and procedures, including a risk- based approach towards discovering and remediating near-term concerns to ensure IT security, data privacy, and business continuity.
  • Oversee implementation and management of infrastructure, end user services, regulatory compliance, documentation and technology investments, and enterprise applications.
  • Senior contributor to the Q32’s AI strategy, including AI-based data management tools; lead implementation and ongoing utilization and staff training.
  • Manage staff, contractors, and all other third parties with regards to the installation, configuration,testing, monitoring, maintenance, and support of all IT services.
  • Set the mission of the IT organization to foster a business-oriented mindset, driven by continual service improvements and security considerations.
  • Oversee the Company’s data management strategy, including Clinical, Research, and G&A data
  • Ensure reliable 24/7 operations and develop disaster recovery, security, storage, servers, monitoring performance, and back-office systems.
  • Provide direction on which new technologies should be assimilated, integrated, and introduced by staying up to date on emerging technologies.
  • Interface with stakeholders from other functional areas to support identification and implementation of departmental solutions.
  • Manage and monitor all installed systems and corporate infrastructure policies. Create new and innovative policies and procedures that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of individuals and teams.
  • Actively seek opportunities for efficiencies and cost-effective technologies that reduce costs and optimize investments.
  • Provide regular project status updates on schedule, budget, and deliverables.
  • Manage and oversee the planning, design, implementation and documentation of all new IT projects and upgrades to existing infrastructure.
  • Develop standards and operational procedures that support current and future operational needs.
  • Collaborate to develop and manage the annual operating and capital expenditure budget to ensure it is consistent with overall IT strategy and is within plan.
  • Build a team-based environment that aligns with company values, ways of working, and competencies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required; Advanced degree preferred
  • 12 – 15+ years of increasing experience in information technology; preferably in a biotechnology company
  • Proven supervisory/managerial experience, and a strong business acumen
  • Prior experience managing third party vendors is required
  • Experience with cybersecurity is required
  • Experience with onsite and in-cloud infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrated ability to develop IT processes consistent with overall Company strategic plans
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills to prioritize multiple work streams and deadlines and balance opposing priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, influence, and communication skills with proven ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Flexible and adaptable: demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced working environment and to work in a diplomatic and tactful manner with others
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment where results are achieved through influence, cooperation, and the incorporation of multiple points of view
  • Must have experience developing individual team members
  • Must be able and excited to work in person a minimum of 3 days per week at company headquarters in Waltham, MA in accordance with company in-office hours/schedule.
